Privacy Policy

Tech Knowledge Base, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as "the Company") hereby establishes this Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as "this Policy") regarding the handling of privacy information in the service "Sighted" (hereinafter referred to as "the Service") provided by the Company.

1. Privacy Information

  1. "Personal information" within privacy information refers to "personal information" as defined by the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (APPI), meaning information about a living individual that can identify a specific person through name, date of birth, address, telephone number, contact information, and other descriptions contained in such information.
  2. "History and characteristic information" within privacy information refers to information other than "personal information" defined above, including services used, products purchased, pages and advertisements viewed, search keywords, dates and times of use, methods of use, usage environment, postal code, gender, occupation, age, IP address, cookie information, location data, and device identification information.

2. Methods of Collecting Privacy Information

  1. The Company may request personal information such as name, date of birth, address, telephone number, email address, bank account number, credit card number, and driver's license number when users register for the Service. The Company may also collect transaction records containing users' personal information and payment-related information from our partners (including information providers, advertisers, and ad distributors; hereinafter referred to as "Partners").
  2. The Company collects history and characteristic information such as services and software used, products purchased, pages and advertisements viewed, search keywords, dates and times of use, methods of use, usage environment (including communication status and various settings when using mobile devices), IP address, cookie information, location data, and device identification information when users use our or our Partners' services or view pages.
  3. The Company collects information such as URLs, keywords, brand names, and product names entered or registered by users in connection with providing the Service.
  4. The Company collects data such as recommendation results, Response Share, and citation information obtained from AI answer engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, etc.) in connection with the Service.

3. Purposes of Collecting and Using Personal Information

The Company collects and uses personal information for the following purposes:

  1. To accept registrations, calculate usage fees, and provide, maintain, protect, and improve the Service
  2. To display registration information such as name, address, contact details, and payment methods, as well as information about services used, products purchased, and related charges, so that users can view and modify their own registration information and usage status
  3. To use email addresses for sending notifications and communications to users, and to use contact information such as name and address for shipping products and making necessary contacts
  4. To use information such as name, date of birth, address, telephone number, bank account number, credit card number, driver's license number, and certified delivery mail results for identity verification
  5. To use payment-related information such as product names, quantities, service types, periods, frequency, billing amounts, name, address, bank account number, and credit card number for billing purposes
  6. To display registered information on input screens for user convenience, and to transfer information to other services (including those provided by Partners) based on user instructions
  7. To use identification information such as usage patterns, name, and address to refuse service to users who violate the Terms of Service, such as by delaying payments or causing damage to third parties, or who attempt to use the Service for fraudulent or improper purposes
  8. To use information necessary for providing the Service to users, including inquiry details, billing information, service usage status, and contact information, in order to respond to user inquiries
  9. To analyze and use anonymized data such as Response Share, recommendation rates, and keyword search history for improving Service functionality, developing new features, and creating statistical data
  10. For purposes incidental to the above

4. Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties

  1. The Company will not provide personal information to third parties without obtaining the prior consent of the user, except in the following cases:
    • When disclosure is permitted under the APPI or other applicable laws and regulations
    • When it is necessary to protect a person's life, body, or property and it is difficult to obtain the user's consent
    • When it is particularly necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound development of children, and it is difficult to obtain the user's consent
    • When it is necessary to cooperate with a national institution, local government, or an entity entrusted by them in executing affairs prescribed by law, and obtaining the user's consent may impede the execution of such affairs
    • When the following matters have been notified or publicly announced in advance:
      • That provision to third parties is included in the purpose of use
      • The items of data provided to third parties
      • The means or methods of provision to third parties
      • That provision of personal information to third parties will be stopped upon the request of the individual
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the following cases shall not constitute third-party provision:
    • When the Company outsources all or part of the handling of personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the purpose of use
    • When personal information is provided as a result of business succession due to merger or other reasons
    • When personal information is jointly used with a specific party, and the individual has been notified in advance or the information has been made readily available regarding the fact of joint use, the items of personal information jointly used, the scope of joint users, the purpose of use, and the name of the person responsible for managing such personal information

5. Integration with External Services

  1. The Service uses APIs from AI answer engines (including OpenAI's ChatGPT, Perplexity AI's Perplexity, and Google's Gemini) to provide its functionality.
  2. The Company transmits information such as keywords, URLs, and brand names entered by users to external AI answer engine APIs to the extent necessary for providing the Service.
  3. Please refer to each service provider's official website for the privacy policies and terms of service of external AI answer engines.
  4. The Company may use data obtained from external AI answer engines as statistical data in a form that does not identify individuals.

6. Disclosure of Personal Information

  1. When a user requests disclosure of personal information pursuant to the APPI, the Company will disclose such information to the user without delay after confirming that the request is from the user themselves (if the personal information does not exist, the user will be notified accordingly). However, the Company may choose not to disclose all or part of the information in the following cases, and will promptly notify the user of such decision:
    • When the Company is not obligated to disclose under the APPI or other laws and regulations
    • When disclosure may harm the life, body, property, or other rights and interests of the individual or a third party
    • When disclosure may significantly impede the proper conduct of the Company's business
    • When disclosure would violate other laws and regulations
  2. Notwithstanding the preceding paragraph, the Company will not disclose information other than personal information, such as history and characteristic information.

7. Correction and Deletion of Personal Information

  1. Users may request the Company to correct or delete their personal information held by the Company if such information is inaccurate, through the procedures established by the Company.
  2. When the Company receives such a request, it will confirm that the request is from the user themselves, conduct the necessary investigation without delay, and if it determines that the request should be granted, will correct or delete the personal information without delay and notify the user accordingly.

8. Suspension of Use of Personal Information

When a user requests the suspension of use or erasure (hereinafter referred to as "suspension of use, etc.") of their personal information on the grounds that it is being handled beyond the scope of the purpose of use or was obtained through improper means, the Company will conduct the necessary investigation without delay after confirming the identity of the requester, and based on the results, will suspend the use of the personal information and notify the user accordingly. However, when suspending use of personal information would involve significant costs or is otherwise difficult, and alternative measures can be taken to protect the individual's rights and interests, such alternative measures will be implemented.

9. Changes to this Privacy Policy

  1. The Company will review the operational status of this Policy as appropriate and strive for continuous improvement, and may change the contents of this Policy as necessary without notifying users.
  2. Unless otherwise determined by the Company, the revised Privacy Policy shall take effect upon posting on this website, and users will be notified of changes by posting on this website.

10. Use of Cookies

Our website uses cookies and other similar tracking or analytical technologies (collectively referred to as "Cookies") to provide better services. Through the use of Cookies, we may collect non-personally identifiable attribute information such as browsing history, service usage history, and location data.
